Meet Nicolas Carjuzaa

Baypoint, California

The first 6 years of my life were in Bay Point, CA.

I graduated from Alhambra High School in Martinez in 2009. I swam and played water polo and lacrosse at the varsity level, and excelled in woodshop, AP U.S. history, and civics/economics.

In 2010, I was elected to student government at Sonoma State University as the Senator of Business and Economics. I worked to pass a resolution to include business and economics courses among general education requirements, and reformed the elections code to help pay for students' campaigns and increase opportunity and engagement by more students with less means.

In 2012, I studied at the Université Nanterre in Paris, France, to earn a Master 1 in Business Management.

MSc International Relations, Bristol UK

In 2015, after saving funds for several years, I went to the University of Bristol in the U.K. to earn an MSc International Relations. I researched migration politics, nationalism, and the international system. Brexit passed and Trump was elected at this time, which is when I made up my mind to prepare and eventually run for Congress from home.

Nicolas' marriage in Brooklyn, NY

Until late 2025, I worked as an international analyst for the financial regulator FINRA in NYC, with American agencies and foreign governments, to protect American consumers, promote our markets, and ensure bad actors were held accountable. This is where I met my wife and we were married. When Trump won in 2024, we made the decision to return home and fight for a better Congress.

Power of the People > The People in Power

I am home and I am ready to fight in Congress against Trump and the GOP, and to rebuild our government and country to prioritize We the People.

WHO IS NICOLAS CARJUZAA

I am a first generation French-American citizen born and raised in the East Bay. After graduating high school in Martinez, I finished my undergrad at Sonoma State University, traveled to France to complete a Master 1 in Business Management, and to the U.K. to complete my Masters in International Relations. It took a lot of focus, risk, and student debt to get my education, build a career in public service as an analyst of international affairs for FINRA, and help regulate finance to benefit and protect working Americans, promote our markets, and hold bad actors accountable.

Having worked at the intersection of finance and regulation, I understand how many of the challenges facing our district, our state, and our country stem from failures in our financial system and misplaced federal priorities. Living, studying, and working in France, the U.K., and New York City also taught me that while these problems are shared globally, their impacts are especially severe here in the Bay Area. That is why I will bring international perspective, regulatory expertise, and the courage to pursue bold solutions to Congress. Incrementalism is no longer wise; our fight for fairness in our system must be relentless.

I am running for Congress because California is becoming more and more unlivable every passing year, in large part, because of national and global issues. I'm determined to solve our local challenges by ensuring the Bay keeps its leading edge in the world. â€‹For us, that means fighting corruption in D.C., building affordable housing, developing universal healthcare, transitioning our economy from carbon fuels, reforming our immigration system, regulating AI and crypto, investing in our comparative advantages, protecting our farmers, and developing a wealth tax that develops equity for all Americans. To succeed, we will need a political agenda that prioritizes the people who give the Bay its character and greatness, not the rich and powerful who think they built it.

Our district is distinguished because it connects people of all backgrounds and serves as a model for the country. We are urban and rural, minority majority, foreign and domestic born, and we lead not only the country but the world with our values and strength. It's time we stand up for ourselves and the complicated world we know and love.

FIGHT FOR OUR FUTURE

I am clear about one thing, we are no longer living in a functioning democracy. No vision will accomplish anything that truly benefits Americans under an authoritarian government. Rich and powerful individuals and corporate interests have captured our government, divided us, and corrupted our politicians to prevent the necessary changes we must undertake to safeguard our freedoms, our quality of life, and our planet. Everything is for sale under the Trump administration, and the Republican Party is complicit in selling out our liberties, our nation, and our prosperity to the highest bidders.

If we allow it to pass, our democracy will crumble finally into an authoritarian, oligarchical state, and you will lose your rights and freedoms as a result. If we are to retake our government, we must organize and stand as a free people and commit to change. If we are to safeguard our future, we must make meaningful changes to our laws and government to prevent its capture by rich and powerful interests again. And if we are to set the record straight for future generations, we must hold those who assaulted our democracy fully accountable to justice for the highest of crimes against We the People.

With power, we can rebuild our government and set it back to working on a People's agenda that tackles our greatest challenges.
